About this Course

This course will review glazed wall systems along with relative features and benefits. With a focus on stick-built curtain walls, attendees will learn how to identify these systems by detail and functionality. Attendees will better understand glazing performance relating to air and water infiltration, mitigation, and code compliance. A specific focus will be on environmental factors, structural load capacities, and total system design to create efficient structures that benefit the occupant’s health & well-being as well as improve facility performance.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Provide an overview of various types of glazed wall systems and applications for different building types.

  • Discuss installation requirements for glazed wall systems to meet code compliance and project needs.

  • Review air & water performance testing standards required of manufacturers, at their facilities and in the field.

  • Understand structural requirements and environmental factors for glazed wall systems, and how to improve facility performance for the occupant’s health, safety, and well-being.

Barbara Jay is an Architectural Specialist for Sierra Pacific Windows. She has worked as an office manager and sales support for 19 years, and for the last 8 years as an Architectural Consultant. She has broad product and AIA/CES knowledge and facilitates industry-required presentations. She provides direct support to architects and serves as a liaison between architects and sales representatives.
