Join AIAOC for a custom home tour guided by Architect Paul McClean, AIA, President of McClean Design, and Chris Gallo, President of Gallo Builders Inc. This Newport Beach custom-designed residence consists of 12,500 sf. of living space and outdoor entertainment features located on the Newport Bay. The home accomplishes high end custom design while adhering to strict fire codes and energy management, and complies for The AIA Framework for Design Excellence for Design for Energy, Design for Water, and Design for Well-Being.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will learn how to meet client expectations in the design and construction phases of a large energy-efficient home and how these efficiencies and sustainable materials can be integrated into their own designs.
Attendees will learn how the architect and contractor integrated the California Residential Green Code into design and construction.
Attendees will learn about the design process for adherence to strict fire codes when designing in extreme fire zones, including interior fire bells, sprinkler requirements, and fire-resistive building materials.
Attendees will review the integration of sustainable methods used to run an energy-efficient home that includes indoor air quality, energy management and storm water filtration systems.
