This course introduces the concept of biophilia - the human desire to connect with nature - and examines how paint, coatings, and color can have biophilic effects. The positive impacts of biophilic design on health, well-being, trends, and influences within a biophilic framework are presented.

 

Learning Objectives ~ Attendees will learn:

  • To give a definition of biophilia and outline biophilia's tangible benefits to well-being and employee productivity. 

  • To recognize biophilic design features and design strategies in the built environment.

  • To recall the role color can play in biophilic design.

  • To explain how paint and coatings are inherently eco-efficient and can contribute to the overall sustainability of a building project.

  • To identify what moods and psychological responses are associated with what color groups.

  • To describe how different industries are incorporating biophilic color strategies into their interior design.
