Darci Hernandez
Darci joined Boulder Associates in 2002 and leads the Southern California region. Her forward-thinking planning and design ability, coupled with client service focused on responsiveness and accountability, has resulted in her becoming a trusted advisor to many long-term clients. Darci is deeply committed to healthcare as a holistic endeavor and believes that design solutions, whether through facilities or operations, must drive toward that outcome. She is passionate about destigmatizing behavioral healthcare and helping clients to create environments that provide integrated care to treat the whole person.
As a longtime collaborator with community health clinics, Darci saw how integrating behavioral health was integral to whole-person care. She now spearheads behavioral health projects throughout Southern California and led the team for Providence Health & Services’ first-ever crisis stabilization unit. This model diverts people experiencing mental health emergencies away from hospital emergency rooms, allowing patients in crisis to connect expediently with appropriate care at a dedicated facility.
Her work on the Providence CSU further fueled her desire to assist her clients in delivering essential services in the right environment. Her passion for this work, coupled with the solid relationships formed throughout two decades at BA, led the design effort for the Be Well Orange campus, a revolutionary private-public partnership delivering comprehensive, integrated behavioral healthcare to patients in Orange County. Darci aligns deeply with the mission “…to create a community-wide, coordinated ecosystem that supports optimal health.”
