The Need for Mental Health Treatment is Growing and Urgent: How facilities are evolving to meet the challenge.

The purpose of this program is to discuss creative and new ways Clients are addressing the unmet, growing needs of Mental Health treatment in our communities. We will have a panel discussion to explore different perspectives from both the Owner and Design Professional point of view

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will understand the scale of unmet need for mental health treatment in Southern California and how organizations are responding with new treatment options.

  • Participants will learn there are many mental health facility types.

  • Participants will be introduced to the relevant Agencies Having Jurisdiction and Licenses involved.

  • With COVID, telehealth in mental health increased dramatically, participants will be briefed on the clinical lessons learned and how facilities can respond to virtual care outpatient visits more effectively.

David Hunt, AIA

David has over 35 years of continuous and dedicated experience in healthcare facility management, design and construction services. He has been instrumental in building Southern California’s healthcare studio, which services projects ranging from master plans and hospital renovations to large scale inpatient and outpatient facilities. Over the past few years David and the CannonDesign team have been involved in the design of over 10 mental and behavioral health projects throughout California.

Michael Pinto, AIA

Michael leads design from a position that places strong emphasis on community engagement believing that our best work is informed by real and pragmatic concerns. In teaching and in practice, he is driven by a series of social interests including education, equitable food systems and social justice in urban design. An energetic designer, Michael has led teams to nearly 30 design awards in his career. He is also currently an Adjunct Professor at Woodbury University, engaging students in projects about urban sustainability. Michael has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Penn State University and a Master's Degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture.

Rosie Zoll S

Rosie Zoll currently works as Be Well OC’s Director of Planning. Ms. Zoll is an experienced professional in the healthcare planning & design industry, with demonstrated success through the entire project lifecycle, from strategic space planning, design development, operational workflows, training, building activation, and stabilization. She has over a decade of experience working in healthcare planning & development, most recently working as the Director of Transition Strategy for the new $2Billion Stanford Hospital. Prior to that project, she led all aspects of Facility Planning for the Hoag Health System in both Newport Beach and Irvine, CA. Ms. Zoll is passionate about creating environments that truly support, nurture and inspire the people who inhabit them. Ms. Zoll holds a Masters of Science
