The AIA Orange County Healthcare Committee Presents:
Right-siting Mental Health on a Continuum of Care
Presented By:
About this Course
As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we welcome design leaders from across SoCal to share challenges and opportunities encountered in building along the Mental Health Continuum of Care. We’ll highlight differences in care models and jurisdictional requirements across a variety of settings from outpatient and supportive housing to inpatient OSHPD-5 and Acute Psychiatric Renovations. You’ll hear from many architects about their experiences working with different provider groups and regulatory agencies to increase available beds and care environments to serve our communities.
Learning Objectives:
Explore outpatient care models that consider co-location of multiple age ranges and community-based functions to offer maximum coverage in smaller communities.
Obtain a general understanding of the code compliance requirements that pertain to an OSHPD-5 designated occupancy.
Learn how unique public-private partnerships are formed to widen access care and provide supportive interim housing with integrated health oversight, case management, and linkage to permanent housing solutions.
Learn how the HCAI Renovation Code Application Notice and Change of Use parameters unfold when converting a non-compliant General Acute Care hospital to an Acute Psychiatric Hospital in an HCAI-1 environment.
