This live course explains how to compartmentalize smoke and fire in common building types related to elevator openings, elevator lobbies, and corridors. How to incorporate best design practices for smoke and fire-rated specialty products required for life safety. Includes a summary explanation of 2018 Significant Changes to the International Building Code Section 3006.

Learning Objectives Attendees will learn:

  • How to Satisfy the needs of IBC Section 3006 Elevator Lobbies and Hoistway Opening Protection by utilizing the correct smoke and fire-rated curtains/doors at such openings.

  • Review the changes in IBC Chapter 30 Elevators: Alternative options to a Traditional Elevator

  • Describe how Elevator Shafts, Elevator lobbies, and corridors can compromise the Health, Safety, and Welfare of the building occupants.

  • Discuss how Design Professionals, Building Owners, and Tenants benefit from utilizing smoke/fire-rated containment systems in their design and applications.
