Course Description:
Current trends for Modern residential architecture continue to be strong with a focus to maximize daylight, minimize ornamentation, and connect interiors to the outdoors. In this course we will discuss the importance of fenestration in contemporary residential architecture both historically and today, and will identify window styles, window options, and performance measures that you will want to consider when specifying windows and doors for contemporary residences.
Learning Objectives:
Review the impact of modern architectural designs and how windows and doors were used historically to create a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors.
Define which fenestration products are complementary to contemporary residential design.
Examine frame and finish options used in fenestration and how they help achieve the contemporary design.
Address performance concerns in contemporary architecture when designing with oversized windows and doors.
