  • My mom named me "Melody" because she loves music. Thankfully I inherited some of her musical abilities or it would have been embarrassing! I play the piano and do a little singing and have also played some violin and guitar (poorly).

About Melody Tang, AIA

I am driven by a passion for both the practical and poetic aspects of design. My experience spans commercial, civic, hospitality, and healthcare projects – everything from tenant improvements to multi-phase, ground up high-rise complexes. I was honored to receive the 2022 AIA National Young Architect Award. After graduating from Cornell University, I started my career at Bostwick Design Partnership (Cleveland, OH) in 2003 before joining LPA Design Studios (Irvine, CA) in 2005. I worked my way up from Technical Designer to Senior Project Architect, and am now an Associate. I was also previously President of the Toastmasters "Speakers by Design" Club, and a Steering Committee Member for CANstruction Orange County. Architecture has been a great way to blend my creative and technical/detail oriented sides. I leverage my strengths in communication, organization, interdisciplinary coordination, and BIM to lead project teams from conceptual design through construction. As a firm leader at LPA, I help develop and lead firmwide initiatives including our EDI Council. I am also passionate about mentorship and have spearheaded many programs educating the next generation of young professionals.
